While her children were growing up , Mary Jean volunteered for the American Heart Association and taught Religious Education at St Rosalie Parish in Hampton Bays for 15 years. Mary Jean became active in community affairs in 1992 when she was thrust into local environmental advocacy via the Southampton Trustees. Since then she has been a member of the Hampton Bays Civic Board of Directors and has led the charge for enviromental responsibility within the town of Southampton.
